Chinese Zoo Celebrates Endangered Grey Crowned Crane

Through dance, song, artwork and drama, the Shijiazhuang Zoo in eastern China celebrated the Endangered Grey Crowned Crane last month.

Grey Crowned Cranes have dramatically declined in the wild over the last several decades due to global demand for cranes for display in zoos and other facilities. The Shijiazhuang Zoo and other organizations belonging to the Chinese Association of Zoological Gardens have come together to establish a viable captive population to help reduce this demand for wild-caught cranes.
