April 29th, 2024 – The Cranes of the World at the International Crane Foundation’s global headquarters will open for the season on Wednesday, May 1st at 9 a.m.

Nestled between the Wisconsin Dells, Baraboo Bluffs and Wisconsin River, the Cranes of the World exhibit area is the only place to see all 15 crane species from around the globe. The world’s cranes are found on five continents and live in some of the planet’s most remote and wild places. Many also share the landscapes they need to survive with people.

Additionally, this season, we look forward to returning a beloved feature – the Platte River Experience in our Migration Center. Artist Victor Bakhtin painted a mural of the Platte River in Nebraska inside the vaulted roof of the original dairy barn that stood on our site. This space was the introduction to every tour at the International Crane Foundation for more than three decades, and we are very excited for guests to enjoy Victor’s legacy again. Many visitors remember this space from class field trips and delight in sharing their memories of it with their own families. This self-guided, interactive experience will open in mid-June.

Located in Baraboo, just a short drive from Wisconsin Dells, the International Crane Foundation is open from May 1st to October 31st, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Public tours are held on weekends at 10 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m. in May, September and October and daily in June, July and August. Please note that we will be closed on June 22nd until 4 p.m. to prepare for An Evening With the CranesOur annual fundraiser is a magical summer evening with food, wine and the Cranes of the World!
