Threats to cranes vary as widely as the landscapes they inhabit. There simply isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution to crane conservation. That’s why – with your help – we use a tailored approach to address the threats facing each of the world’s crane species.
Your support makes it possible for us to work to:
• Stop illegal trade and poisonings in Rwanda, Uganda, and Zambia
• Forge partnerships that transcend politics in China, Russia, and South and North Korea
• Protect critical habitat in South Africa, Vietnam, and beyond
• End senseless, illegal shootings in the United States.
Just last month in Myanmar, we learned that a farmer had taken two Sarus Crane chicks from their nest to raise as pets. Our team on the ground headed directly to the village to talk to the farmer and bring the chicks back to their nest. Soon after, the grateful crane parents returned to their nest and the happy family was reunited. But our work wasn’t done. The Myanmar Crane Team continued to watch over the crane family, while also taking the opportunity to share information with local villagers about crane conservation.
