BARABOO – The International Crane Foundation (ICF) is kicking off its 40th Anniversary season with An Evening with the Cranes, Saturday, June 22, from 5 – 8 pm. Described as a magical evening, ICF brings together delicious food, wines from around the world, live music and an opportunity to meet the people that are dedicated to saving cranes.

This year ICF has invited local chefs from the Del-Bar, Marley’s Club, The Cheese Factory Restaurant, Springbrook Bar and Grill and Little Village Café to have their own tasting stations and share their favorite appetizers and desserts. Laura Hamdan-Krouse, Co-owner of Con Amici Wine Bar in Baraboo, has hand-picked all of the wines and ICF was thrilled to see Woop Woop Shiraz (Austraila) that will be featured in the Whooping Crane exhibit. ICF is also bringing one of its favorite local breweries, Port Huron Brewing Company, into the mix.

“We are thrilled to showcase so many local businesses this year. ICF staff has truly enjoyed creating an event that brings people out to our site for a relaxing evening to be with friends, try new tastes and discover what makes cranes and the people that are dedicated to saving them so special,” Kate Fitzwilliams, ICF Marketing/PR Specialist said.

That night, guests will be the first to view Conservation Leaders an interactive exhibit that highlights ICF’s 40th Anniversary theme “conservation leaders” and our programs around the world. Using life-size, photo cut-outs and iPads, visitors will feel like they are “in the field” with ICF’s biologists.

Live music from Baraboo’s own Beautiful Buzz and the rhythmic drumming of Todd and Malachi Persche will help set the stage for a great summer evening – and maybe even some dancing cranes!

Tickets are $50 per person (ICF member) and $60 per person (non-member) and can be purchased online, at ICF’s Giftshop, or by phone at 608-356-9462 ext. 101. All proceeds benefit ICF’s global crane conservation work.

An Evening with the Cranes ticket holders have free admission to ICF throughout the weekend and can enjoy ICF’s exhibit BLOOM, featuring spectacular photos of ICF’s prairie and prairie restoration work by nature photographer, Tom Lynn. Guided public tours are offered daily at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

ICF thanks its 2013 Event Host Ho-Chunk Gaming and Event Sponsor Teel Plastics, Inc.
