A New Home for Cranes Time Lapse

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]We’re building excitement!
Watch mesmerizing time-lapse videos of the construction progress on our site.

The exhibit area of our campus is undergoing a dramatic transformation as we renovate our crane exhibits and build a new visitor center! We are thrilled that each new crane exhibit will have a water feature and natural landscaping. In addition, our interpretive message will take flight beyond our headquarters as our visitors are immersed in the stories of the cranes and their cousins in the wild.

But the beginning of this project requires moving many tons of earth and installation of new infrastructure to support the updated systems. We are documenting this change using time-lapse photography we will share as short videos twice each month.

A GoPro Hero5® camera, secured in a weatherproof housing, is programmed to take a photo every minute, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. during the work week. An extra-large capacity SD memory card, external battery and solar panel to charge the battery are mounted on a pole just outside the construction zone, giving a panoramic view of the activity. The camera generates 496 JPEG images every day. Each video shows ten to twelve eight-hour days compressed into fewer than three minutes!

We are very excited to share this record with you. We hope you will watch new sequences as they are posted and the finale draws near. We know it will be worth the wait.
