Charitable Bequest

A simple way for you to create your crane conservation legacy is to designate the International Crane Foundation in your will or trust. Whenever you create or update your will, you can work with your attorney or planner to designate a percentage or dollar amount of your assets to the International Crane Foundation.

To create a legacy through your will or trust:

• Choose a dollar amount or percentage of your assets you want to designate.
• Include the International Crane Foundation’s address and federal tax identification number in your will or trust documents.
• Let us know that you have included us in your plans so we can celebrate your commitment to crane conservation and honor your gift intent.

Sample bequest language (seek legal/financial counsel to fit to your personal needs):

I bequeath _______ (dollar amount or % of estate) to the International Crane Foundation, a nonprofit organization existing under the laws of Wisconsin and with a principal business address of E11376 Shady Lane Road, Baraboo, WI 53913-0447; and a federal tax identification number of 39-1187711.

You can create a Charitable Gift Annuity or Charitable Remainder Trust that benefits the International Crane Foundation and gives you or your loved one annual payments based on competitive market rates. You can protect cranes, receive an income, and benefit from tax deductions on the charitable portion of the gift.

To create a gift that provides you income:

• To establish a Charitable Gift Annuity, let us connect you with our partners at the Madison Community Foundation.
• To make a Charitable Remainder Trust, contact your preferred trust company to include the International Crane Foundation as your trust beneficiary.

An easy way you can protect cranes into the future is by naming the International Crane Foundation as a beneficiary of your retirement account, life insurance policy, pension plan, or donor-advised fund. Talk to your financial advisor about how this gift may benefit you and your loved ones, while also reducing estate tax or income tax.

To create a legacy through beneficiary designations:

• Request a new beneficiary form from the administrator of the retirement account or asset you choose.
