Between Devil’s Lake and the Dells is a true gem for nature lovers…Spend as much time as you like visiting the birds, hiking the preserve’s trails, and learning about the foundation’s vital work. If you didn’t love cranes before you arrived, you will leave wanting to do whatever you can to save them.

Thank you for another wonderful visitor season. Our crane gates are now closed for the year, but we hope to see you next spring beginning May 1. We will be open daily through Oct. 31, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Public tours are at 10 a.m. and 1 and 3 p.m. on weekends only in May, September and October and daily in June, July and August. These guided tours are up to 1 hour and are a themed topic. Examples of topics include Cranes and Culture, Crane Behavior 101, and Spirit of Africa. To learn more about reserving a 1.5 to 2-hour private group tour, please click here.
