Whooping Crane Walk at Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge

Join us for a Saturday bird walk at Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge in Decatur, Alabama! The walks are each Saturday beginning December 6 through February 28 (excluding December 27 and January 10). Please meet at the outdoor classroom in the Visitor Center parking lot to walk around the property and enjoy spotting some of the refuge’s resident winter birds, including Sandhill Cranes and, if we are lucky, Endangered Whooping Cranes. Anyone is welcome to join this free event – registration is not required. Please remember to dress for the weather and bring binoculars if you have them.

Whooping Crane Walk Times:

• December 6, February 7, 14, 21, 28 | Walks begin at 9 a.m. Eastern Time

• December 13, 20, January 3, 17, 24, and 31 | Walks begin at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Eastern Time
