Are you missing Alabama’s Sandhill and Whooping Cranes after they’ve left for their spring migration? Join the International Crane Foundation, in partnership with Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge, for a series of Saturday programs in March beginning at 11 a.m. CT focused on cranes and their conservation!

The Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge’s annual Festival of the Cranes in Decatur, Alabama, is January 9 to 11, 2026.

Join us on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Eastern Time, at the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge’s Outdoor Classroom for a Whooping Crane Q&A with our staff!

In partnership with the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge, we’re excited to invite you to a community litter cleanup event for our wintering Whooping Cranes and Sandhill Cranes on Jan. 19, from 8 to 10 a.m. Together, we will remove trash that has made its way into crane habitats to help keep our wetlands safe for cranes and other waterbirds.
