Conserving Habitat in Whooping Crane Country – Live Webinar
Jan 29, 2025 @ 12 PM – 1 PMOur Director of Gulf Coast Programs, Dr. Carter Crouch, with colleagues from Texas Audubon and the Coastal Prairie Conservancy, will share the webinar, Conserving Habitat in Whooping Crane Country: Tools and Strategies for Landowners and Conservation Partners on the Middle Texas Coast, on Jan. 29 at 12 p.m. CT. Please RSVP here.
We will explore the current status of Whooping Crane populations along the middle Texas coast and their expanding range. As we address the challenges faced by this endangered species due to development, habitat loss, and other issues we will introduce an innovative decision support tool developed by Audubon. This tool is designed to empower land trusts, private landowners, and other stakeholders by identifying high-value habitats and catalyzing conservation actions on working lands, fostering a balance between protecting Whooping Cranes and supporting landowner livelihoods.
We will highlight potential habitat conservation actions that can be undertaken in collaboration with private landowners in this region. Engage with experts as they outline ongoing conservation initiatives and sustainable land management strategies that benefit both wildlife and agricultural practices in this ecologically vital area.
