"Frequently, in photos of White-nape Cranes, two of them will be calling and displaying their wings, but you can't assume they are a mated pair. When a mated pair conducts a unison call, the male spreads his wings, while the female keeps her wings down at her side. The two depicted here are just a couple of show-offs. The White-naped Crane breeds in parts of Mongolia, China, and Russia." – Kim Russell
