Photographer Ted Thousand studied the same pair of Sandhill Cranes for three years. They would arrive early each spring, recognizing Ted from the previous season. As he became part of the background, they allowed him to observe as they raised their chicks, including this intimate moment of a parent teaching its young offspring to find food at the edge of a wetland.
