The Government of the Republic of Zambia through the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment, in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, the International Crane Foundation and WWF Zambia, has launched a five-year US$9 million Global Environment Facility (GEF) Kafue Flats Project aimed at restoring the Kafue Flats ecosystem, and securing wildlife habitat and species, while improving livelihoods, strengthening climate resilience, and supporting sustainable development for communities across the wetland landscape.
The International Crane Foundation joined the Uganda Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife, and Antiquities and Isingiro District Local Government, to celebrate the Fifth National Crane Festival under the theme “Investing in wetland conservation for the benefit of people, cranes, and other biodiversity.”
This morning, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers announced proposed budget investments of more than $80 million to support Wisconsin’s farmers, producers, and agricultural industries. As part of this 2025-27 Executive Budget proposal, the Governor included more than $3.7 million to reimburse corn farmers up to 50 percent of the total cost of purchasing seed treatment that discourages birds, especially Sandhill Cranes, from eating their seed.
