Trumpeter Swans, Siberian Cranes, and Whooping Cranes…
…they were nearly ghosts, driven from their habitats and hunted to near extinction. But with ingenuity, determination, and hard work, we are restoring trumpeter swans and whooping cranes to their historic ranges, and giving the seriously-threatened Siberian cranes another chance at survival. This is the story of magnificent species and the people who are working diligently to save them – biologists, conservationists, aviculturists, pilots, graduate students, benefactors, and volunteers. It’s a story of puzzles and creative solutions. There are adventures…searching the Canadian wilderness for nesting grounds, a historic flight across Siberia to deliver precious eggs, teaching cranes to follow an ultralight aircraft on migration, and more. It’s a chronicle of setbacks, tragedies, discoveries, and victories.
