Volunteer Stories – 28 Years of Dedication

Volunteering since 1993, Peg Gargano has contributed to the International Crane Foundation in many ways, including giving tours throughout the visitor season. Originally from Beloit, Wisconsin, Peg had a successful career in Medical Technologies for 45 years. After learning more about cranes and being particularly inspired by a video of a Red-crowned Crane dancing in the snow, Peg said the International Crane Foundation truly changed her life by creating a new desire to take care of the environment. She appreciates the ability to love these birds found worldwide and knowing how much other cultures value them. Peg knew right away that she wanted to volunteer for the International Crane Foundation, volunteering as many hours as possible through the years. Peg enjoys sharing crane experiences with guests on our site, Cranes of the World.
