We are proud to share these images of a new school library that the International Crane Foundation helped build in northern Cambodia. It is the only school in the remote Sambour Village, located deep inside Kulen Promtep Wildlife Sanctuary, the most important breeding area for Eastern Sarus Cranes in Cambodia. The school offers classes for children from 1st to 6th grades.
The library’s construction is truly a community effort. Local people are helping with painting – in our branded blue color, or as close as it can be – and making bookshelves and tables. We will fill the library with books for classes and also for biodiversity and environmental education. The library also will have a video projector and computer for students to watch educational programs. The village doesn’t have electricity, so we will donate a power generator as well.
